Unique Benefits of the Tropical Ceiling Fan

Tropical ceiling fans are designed to keep you comfortable in warm weather. Their large blades span further and spin slower than standard fans, moving a higher volume of air. This creates a gentle breeze that cools the area without that annoying wind tunnel effect.

Powerful Airflow

The broader blades and lower RPMs of a tropical fan maximize airflow, circulating the air in the room more efficiently. This wide span and slower spin is what creates that distinctive tropical ceiling fan breeze. The result is an area that feels up to 10 degrees cooler through airflow alone.

Energy Efficient

Tropical ceiling fans require less energy to operate compared to air conditioning.  By circulating room air instead of generating cool air, they provide an eco-friendly way to stay comfortable in warm weather. Using a fan allows you to raise the AC thermostat by up to 4 degrees without sacrificing comfort.

Stylish Design

Tropical ceiling fans also provide an attractive design element for any space. Their large size and visible blades make them a focal point of the room. The right fan can enhance the overall decor, especially in spaces with a coastal, nautical or island vibe.

With the right tropical ceiling fan creating the perfect breeze, you’ll be enjoying your own slice of paradise and lower energy bills all summer long. The gentle airflow and stylish design provide natural cooling in an eco-friendly package.

Tropical Ceiling Fan FAQs

A tropical ceiling fan isn’t your average fan. With larger, more decorative blades designed to move a high volume of air, it offers some distinct advantages over regular ceiling fans.

Powerful Cooling

Tropical ceiling fans are built to keep you comfortable even in hot, humid weather. Their powerful motors and aerodynamic blades create a stronger breeze than standard fans, cooling you effectively and efficiently. On the hottest days, the powerful airflow can make it feel up to 10 degrees cooler in the room.

Whisper-Quiet Operation

Despite their power, tropical ceiling fans are engineered to operate almost silently. High-quality components like precision-balanced blades and vibration-absorbing fixtures allow them to spin at high speeds without the annoying squeaks, rattles or hums of lower-quality fans. You get maximum cooling with minimal noise distraction.

Enhanced Style

With distinctive blades in natural wood or rattan and decorative motor housings, tropical ceiling fans add a touch of island style to any space. Their unique designs can make a dramatic focal point in a room or complement a tropical-themed décor. Either way, a tropical ceiling fan is a stylish alternative to a standard fan.

Between the powerful cooling, whisper-quiet operation, and stylish designs, tropical ceiling fans offer benefits you won’t find in an average ceiling fan. For staying comfortable and beat the heat in style, these fans can’t be beat. Your own personal paradise is just a flip of the switch away!

Transform Your Home With Custom Interior Shutters

Customize Your Home’s Look and Feel With Interior Shutters

Have you been thinking about giving your home a little facelift lately? Custom interior shutters could be just the thing you need. They’re an easy, stylish upgrade that can completely transform the look and feel of your space.

You’re probably familiar with exterior custom shutters, but interior shutters take it to the next level. They give you total control over how much light comes into each room. Fully open, partially open, or completely closed – you decide based on your mood and needs. And unlike blinds which can look outdated, shutters have a timeless style that instantly enhances the character of your home.

The best part is you have complete creative freedom. Choose from a variety of materials like wood, faux wood or vinyl in colors and stains to match your home’s decor. Get them in a casual louvered style or a more formal raised panel. Have them custom made to fit oddly-shaped windows or made to measure for a perfect fit. However you envision it, custom interior shutters can make it happen.

The Many Benefits of Custom Interior Shutters

Interior shutters are a stylish way to transform the look and feel of your home.  You can choose from a variety of materials like wood, faux wood, vinyl or aluminum. Wood and faux wood provide a classic look, while vinyl and aluminum are low-maintenance, budget-friendly options.

With custom interior shutters, you have full control over the size, shape, and color.  Want to block out light in your bedroom or add privacy to your bathroom window?  Interior shutters have you covered.  You can choose full-height shutters that cover the entire window, half-height shutters for the bottom portion, or café style shutters that cover just the bottom half.

For extra light control, opt for shutters with adjustable louvers.  Tilt the louvers open to let in light and fresh air or close them up for total blackout.  Custom interior shutters also provide insulation, helping reduce energy costs.  They create an air pocket that acts as an effective insulator, keeping your rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

The options for customizing your interior shutters are endless.  Choose a paint or stain color that matches your existing decor or opt for a bold color to make a statement.  Add decorative hardware like hinges, pulls or knobs for an extra special touch.  Whatever your style, custom interior shutters are an easy, stylish way to transform the look and feel of your home.

How to Choose the Best Custom Shutters for Your Home

Custom interior shutters offer so many benefits for your home.

They also come in a variety of materials like wood, composite, vinyl and aluminum so you can choose the style that complements your home’s decor.

Functionality

Interior shutters serve both decorative and practical purposes. They can block light when closed or let the perfect amount of light in when partially open. Custom interior shutters also provide insulation, helping reduce heating and cooling costs. Some can even be outfitted with hardware to tilt open for ventilation.

Durability

High-quality wood or composite custom shutters are built to last and come with lengthy warranties. They are able to withstand changes in temperature and humidity without warping or fading. Custom shutters made of aluminum or vinyl are virtually maintenance-free. Any style you choose will provide years of beauty and service.

Value

While custom interior shutters may cost more upfront, they add significant value to your home.  Not only do they instantly enhance curb appeal and resale value, but they can also save money on energy costs over the lifetime of your home.

Custom interior shutters transform the look and feel of your rooms. They are a stylish and worthwhile investment that you’ll enjoy for years to come.

6 Things To Look For In A Structural Engineer

There are many reasons why a commercial property owner would look to hire a structural engineer, Such as Pedram Zohrevand. The use of a structural engineer is usually needed for certain projects, such as the development or repair of a public building such as a hospital or school to ensure safety or retrofitting buildings in seismic zones. When you are looking to choose a structural engineer, it is vital you seek out an engineer who is qualified, licensed, and experienced in the project you are undertaking.

Pedram Zohrevand

Do you need a structural engineer?

One of the big questions you need to answer when you are thinking of hiring a structural engineer is, do you need a professional so qualified. Home Advisor reports the skills of a structural engineer are needed when a homeowner believes they are affected by foundation problems. Whether you are looking to build a new home or simply complete some renovations, a structural engineer will be needed to make certain the structural integrity of property remains intact at all times.

Licensing

There are many aspects of the work of a structural engineer to consider, including the fact the chosen professional has the correct licenses. The Structural Engineers Association of California reports one of the main concerns for a property owner when looking for a structural engineer is to ensure their chosen professional has the correct licenses and education to operate legally.

This usually means the engineer has completed the approval stages of the professional engineer’s license that requires an individual to complete the correct number of years of work experience. The professional engineer’s license is the first step along the way to becoming a structural engineer that takes an additional three years of experience and education to be completed following the initial license being approved.

Making sure your Expectations are Matched

One of the biggest problems facing many property owners is making sure their expectations are met when they employ a structural engineer. Chron reports a good option to take is to make many of the decisions about completing your project prior to contacting your chosen structural engineer. Flexibility is a vital part of the work being done by a structural engineer because the construction projects that you will be working on often require changes to be made as new obstacles and budgetary changes are made.

By arriving in the office of a structural engineer with a clear set of expectations you will be able to set the parameters of the project more easily. At the first meeting between the property owner and the structural engineer, the borders of the working relationship should be established with decisions about ordering and handling materials established with ease.

Construction Experience

When you are looking for a structural engineer, such as Pedram Zohrevand you should be certain they have more experience than just in the design sector of the profession. Instead, your structural engineer should take on a range of roles with the design they come up with capable of being built by the construction team. The construction experience of the engineer should allow them to take control of overseeing the project to completion and fit into the budget you have set.

A Range of Experience

When you choose to work with a structural engineer you should be certain they have the skills and experience to complete your project with ease. When you first meet a structural engineer they should be able to provide you with images and information regarding the work they have completed similar to the project you are planning to undertake. By making sure your engineer has the correct amount of experience in similar projects to yours the structural engineer of your choice will be able to lead your project correctly.

Costs of your Project

By making the right decision when it comes to hiring a structural engineer you should have a definite idea of how much your project will cost. When the engineer accepts your project they should produce an estimate of costs for their services and the cost of the entire project. These costs should be included in an agreement signed between the property owner and the structural engineer that is signed by both parties to ensure no problems will be seen come to the end of the construction project.

What Happens If You’re Charged With Home Improvement Fraud?

What Happens If You’re Charged With Home Improvement Fraud?

While it isn’t something that’s in the headlines too much, home improvement fraud actually happens quite frequently. In short, it’s when someone says they are a contractor and offers to do some work on your home for a certain price. Once agreed, the job is done poorly with low quality materials, then they pressure you to pay a higher amount than what was first stated. If you find yourself being charged with or the victim of this, it’s important to get good representation, such as Douglas Healy. This article is going to look at 5 things that could happen when someone is charged with this type of fraud.

Fines

One of the most common penalties for this type of fraud are fines. The thing about fines, though, is that they can vary greatly from case to case. For instance, one person might only have to pay a few hundred dollars, while someone else might get hit with several thousands. The lawyer will be able to talk to you and let you know a rough number, but remember you shouldn’t bank on this number because it’s ultimately up to the judge. If it’s just a misdemeanor charge, it’ll probably be only a few hundred dollars. On the other hand, a felony charge could bring in fines that are over $10,000. Since it varies so much, you should expect the worst case scenario.

Probation

Another possible outcome would be probation. If a judge gives you this, it means that you won’t have to serve a jail or prison sentence. Even with that said, though, this doesn’t mean you’ll get off scott-free. The exact probation time will depend on what the judge imposes, but you can expect a minimum of 12 months. The judge will also add other requirements, such as weekly check-ins, not being able to go to certain places and not being able to associate with certain people. It might seem like it’s an easy or better alternative, but it can be just as restrictive as being in the jail or prison.

Restitution

Regardless of whatever other penalties the judge imposes, there’s a high chance restitution will also need to be paid. This money will go to the victim for any losses they suffered as a result of the fraud. Depending on the severity of the case, this could be thousands of dollars. Keep in mind, these will need to be paid in addition to the normal court fines. This means that any payments to court fines will NOT go to restitution and vice versa. Any payments that are missed could land you in hot water, so it’s important to make every payment. If need be, you can get on a payment plan to ensure you don’t miss payments.

Jail Time

There’s also a chance you could get sentenced to some jail time. Many times, the judge won’t actually impose a jail sentence or they’ll give a suspended sentence. This means that you’ll have to make sure you meet all the requirements they set and if you don’t, you’ll have to serve the time they stated. As long as you do what is required, there’s a good chance you won’t have to step foot into a jail or prison. Keep in mind, though, this isn’t guaranteed, especially if the fraud was quite bad. A misdemeanor can lead up to 1 year in prison, a felony can lead to multiple years and a fraud on the federal level can result in 10 or more years.

Local/National Registries

One other penalty that could be imposed is being put on local or national registries. Not only will this result in you or the person not being able to work anymore, but anyone can look you up and see that you’re on the registries and the details of the fraud. Again, depending on the details of the case, you might have some additional requirements that go with being required to register. It will all depend on what the judge decides.

Now that you know some of the potential outcomes, you can see why it’s important to get good representation, like Douglas Healy. If you’re being charged, you want to have someone on your side and if you’re a victim, you want someone to help you get the justice you deserve. Regardless what side you’re on, it’s important to sit down with a lawyer to see what the case looks like and to see what the next step is

White Mountain Partners Discusses if You Should Put Home Improvement Expenses on Your Credit Card

White Mountain Partners Discusses if You Should Put Home Improvement Expenses on Your Credit Card

Home improvement projects can be quite costly on their own. If you’re hoping to remodel your home and are planning to use credit cards to do so, there are a few best practices to consider before using credit cards to finance your upcoming projects. Read on for the best strategies for paying for home improvement projects with credit cards.

Putting Large Expenses on Credit Cards

Remodeling can drastically boost your home’s market value, which is a good enough reason for other homeowners to invest in expensive remodeling projects. When it comes to financing such an endeavor, credit cards are often considered the go-to choice for homeowners that don’t want to pay out-of-pocket. If you’re considering putting large expenses on your credit cards, be sure to carefully consider the impact of such a decision.

Experts from White Mountain Partners share that homeowners that rely on credit cards for massive home improvement projects often end up paying for these costly projects years after the renovation is completed. The best way to use credit cards for any remodeling project is to have a repayment plan in place and save up as much as you can to ensure that you can pay off your cards’ balance before they have the chance to accrue too much interest.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Credit Cards for Home Renovations

Homeowners can successfully fund their home improvement projects using credit cards. Responsible credit card users can reap the benefits of using credit cards to finance these renovations. Credit cards offer homeowners a certain immediacy and convenience that can make the process of completing remodeling projects far easier.

Moreover, many homeowners take advantage of their credit cards’ rewards system when remodeling their properties. Whether they cash in their points for a gift card to their local home improvement store or they use these benefits on hotel rooms while their homes are under construction, working with credit cards during this process has its benefits.

Worried about the downside of using credit cards for home improvement projects? Keep in mind that putting such significant expense on your credit cards will result in late fees, high interest, and more should you miss one or more credit card payments or after the introductory period ends. If you find yourself unable to make your payments on time or are only paying the minimum each month, you’ll be in the unfortunate situation of paying off a large balance and, in the case of late or missed payments, a declining credit score. Avoid this situation by staying on top of your credit card payments or using other options to finance your remodeling projects.

The Best Credit Cards for Remodeling

Homeowners that are set on using credit cards for home improvement projects should be sure to research all their options. Homeowners with good credit should apply for credit cards that offer 0% interest during the first year. This will make it easier for homeowners to pay off their balance before the interest has a chance to kick in.

In addition to using popular cards from credit companies or your bank, White Mountain Partners suggest that homeowners consider using credit cards from local big box home improvement stores. Stores like IKEA, Lowe’s, and Home Depot offer shoppers credit cards featuring special discounts, 5% back with purchases, monthly payments, and more.

Think twice before turning to credit cards to finance your renovation. Use these tips to make sure your decision to use credit cards to fund your remodeling projects is a financially savvy one

The Importance Of Fencing Your Property

Jason-McLaughlan

After putting the finishing touches on your interior room décor and also fixing up every part of your home that’s exposed to the elements, you may think that you’re finally done. However, you may have overlooked an element that could turn out to be crucial.

Take a look around outside your front door and see if you notice something. If it’s starting to feel as though you just have an undefined space there and would like to change that, you may very well need to set up a fence.

Many housing experts such as Jason McLaughlan support homeowners setting up their own fences because they could turn out to be valuable additions to your home.

In this article, we will discuss the different reasons why it is important for you to set up fencing around your property.

1. Fences Help Secure Your Property

The number one reason why setting up a fence around your property is a good idea is because it will provide additional security to your home. The fence will serve as an extra barrier that gets in the way of people who may be thinking of trying something illegal.

Fences are even more important to your security if you have young kids. You can’t always keep an eye on your kids while they’re playing in your yard. The fences will at least ensure that they are on your property at all times. Also, even if they like to run around a lot while they’re having fun, you don’t need to worry about them wandering out on to the street thanks to the fence.

2. Fences Offer You Better Privacy

Whether or not you like your neighbors shouldn’t really factor that much into your decision to build a fence. Protecting your privacy is always a smart move and you can do that better by setting up a fence around your property.

Check with the city ordinances in your area and then set up a tall fence that will comply with them if you want to protect your privacy better. Fences will also help you better establish your property lines. Having established property lines using the fences you put up will come in very handy if you ever find yourself in a situation where you want to sell your home.

3. Fences Will Help You Create a More Peaceful Home Environment

When you get home after a long day at work or even if you’re just staying home to enjoy a relaxing weekend, the last thing you want is to be disturbed by loud noises.

You can’t control what your neighbors do though. There could very well be times when your relaxation plans are coinciding with their party plans. By building a fence around your property, you can significantly reduce the amount of noise you have to deal with. Zillow notes that a solid 8-foot fence can reduce traffic and ambient noise by around six to 10 decibels.

With a fence surrounding your property, you can enjoy peace and quiet regardless of whatever your neighbors have on the agenda.

A Recommendation for When You Should Have Your Fence Built

If you’re now sold on the idea of setting up a fence around your home, Angie’s List has a recommendation for when you should have it built. According to the site, getting your new fence installed during the fall or winter is a good way to save up on money and the project may also be completed faster.

Since most contractors are busy during the spring and summer, you will deal with less competition if you have your fence built either during the fall or winter. Contractors may even offer you some incentives to get you to sign off on the projects.

Building a fence around your property can be beneficial in so many ways. Plus, if you time it right, the project doesn’t even have to put a huge dent in your bank account. It’s time to have that fence finally built so that your home can be officially completed.

Should Home Builders Use a General Contractor, or Specialty Companies

Should Home Builders Use a General Contractor, or Specialty Companies

Home building projects can be a logistical nightmare. A number of individuals have to work on a construction project at any given time. There is always a significant chance of the project collapsing because of disorganization. Individuals need to make sure that they structure their home-building projects accordingly. Deciding between a general contractor or specialty companies to handle a project is an essential part of this structuring process.

Scope of project

The scope of a project is often the most important factor in determining whether or not a special or general contractor is used. Special contractors often have licenses to do a particular area of work. They may be problems that can exclusively be solved by trained electricians, masons, or carpenters. But only a small group of problems require specific specialists. Jobs like dock construction or updating dock accessories require a wide range of individuals. These jobs may need painters, electricians, or carpenters who may all need to use facilities or electricity.

These specialists have to start and stop working at particular times. In some instances, working on a project at the wrong time can end up ruining that project. A specialist who requires water of any kind should not be working on an area at the same time as an electrician. General contractors are sometimes needed to balance all of these individuals and schedule them at the right time. Most general contractors have experience in different fields and in managing large teams of individuals. They may have years of expertise but only one or two specific licenses in particular areas.

Expertise

An individual’s expertise can help determine which type of contractor would be needed. A person who is well-versed in construction may be able to organize a group of specialists and have them work in a productive, timely manner. They may be able to simply look at a job and be able to figure out what is working and what is not. Such expertise is only gained through years of hard work and training

It may be applicable for a company with construction professionals that is looking to expand dock construction or dock accessories. But bringing in specialty contractors may not be effective for an individual looking to invest in real estate or build their dream home. They do not have the experience in managing people or gauging materials necessary for building a house. These individuals should turn to general contractors in order to prevent fraud and massive cost overruns.

Free time

Free time is essential for making a choice between a general or specific contractor. Individuals with a limited amount of free time cannot juggle a group of specialty contractors. They cannot be tasked with the job of checking in on specialty contractors, making demands, and dropping those contractors when they are unable to perform at the level that a company or individual needs. These individuals are too busy working at the jobs that they are specialists in. Some individuals may be able to stop by a job site after work or during a lunch break. But this approach is only workable in the short-term. For longer projects or projects that are dozens of miles away, a general contractor is needed to keep up with the site and report back to the person in charge of construction on a regular basis.

Conclusion

The decision between specialty companies or a general contractor is an important one for any individual. They must balance their time needs and budget with the demands and scope of the project. They must also perform extensive research into the specialty and general contractors in their area. Hard work and careful planning are essential to allow any home building project to succeed.
